Well, did you contact burt's bees? if so, what did you find??

jan- i stopped trusting govt and business a long time ago. it's a brutal circle, and it all boils down to ONE thing: greed.

health care has become an INDUSTRY rather than a human right.
government has been morphed into a corporation, an investor.
and business wants nothing more than profits.

in capitalism, profits are maximized when cheaper products are supplemented over scarce or more expensive quality. less competition means more cheating can be successfully achieved- corporate buyouts result in competitive elimination, and such buyouts have been rampant for some time now.

and why should public health "officials" care? remember, they are running a business now- this might help their own profits.

sounds a lil out there, i'm sure, but i trust no one anymore.

for too long i've listened to health experts be ignored after pleading with people to stop overusing antibiotics and and stop using "anti-bacterial" products because of monster bugs.

look at sudden epidemics of new allergies linked to pesticides and unnecessary vaccinations. instead of telling people to stop eating processed foods and start eating more veggies, they're telling them to get another vaccine, one that hasn't been tested for more than 6 MONTHS. and now little girls are DYING and suffering freakish and painful illnesses because some asshole corporation wanted to make a profit.

i've lost too many people to cancer, and i've lost too many people to cancers that were "treated" by killing the body. i've heard horror stories of people who were FORCED to undergo "medical treatment"- sometimes via COURT ORDER (wtf!) instead of finding/experimenting with alternative therapies, and who ended up dying as a result of said "medical treatments."

instead of focusing on prevention, we are focused on the newest pill or shot.

industry. capitals. profit. greed. somewhere along the line, someone has an agenda, and he wants to help his buddy with his agenda, and his buddy, and so on.

Hi Erin,
Thanks for posting this. Many moms aren't aware that the foods they eat can be the cause of their baby's distress. I went through this myself - I have a history of allergies so it doesn't surprise me, but it has been difficult anyway. I am still breastfeeding (11 months now) but he also eats a lot of solid food so not as often.

It seemed like I couldn't eat every much - I had to cut out all dairy, eggs, soy and wheat + gassy veggies and spices, etc. for a long time. I am now eating eggs, butter and raw dairy but no gluten, regular dairy products or soy. I can also eat somewhat spicy food and it doesn't bother him.

The main thing that started helping me was planning my meals ahead of time. I now have a menu planning service for people who are allergic to dairy, gluten and soy because I found these to be the top on the list for most people.

I think if more moms were aware of this, they would be able to continue breastfeeding instead of going to formula. In my case, as soon as I cut out these foods, his colic completely stopped! Imagine the relief of mom's if they knew this.

I also realize it is hard to stick to the diet though - some moms just can't do it because they don't know what else to eat and don't have time to plan. But my hope is to help moms and other people with food allergies eat better by planning meals for them.

Anyway, thanks again. I appreciated reading this.
sincerely,
sarah

Hi Erin,
I can here through VBAC_HOPE yahoo group. Just wanted to say YEAH!!! Your little guy is beautiful. So glad you were able to birth naturally! If we decide to have another one, I really praying it goes as well as yours. Our first also ended up in a C, totally not what I expected or anticipated.

I'm curious why the nurses wouldn't let you get out of bed.

That's a good point! I never thought to ask a pharmacist! They went to school specifically to study drugs/medicine and it would make sense that they would know more than a nurse that probably took one class about it! I just worry that his colds will turn in to things much worse, like pneumonia or bronchitis. That's when I would freak out and give him cough/cold medicine. I will definitely talk to a pharmacist when I have questions about my kiddos now!

Another very good person to talk to before giving kids ANY medication is the pharmacist. They usually know dosing better than nurses (at least in my experience) and a good pharmacist will also warn you about possible side effects, tell you if the medication usually makes a kid drowsy or wide awake, etc. There have been a few times when I was looking for something to help the girls stop coughing and the pharmacist redirected me to better options than the medications I was looking choosing. I really try to stay away from most OTC medicine - but when their symptoms are keeping them awake -that's when I start thinking I need to give them something!
